Tamil movie ‘Lover’ starring Sri Gouri Priya and K Manikandan in the lead roles gears up for its much anticipated OTT release after its box office success. The movie is directed by Prabhuram Vyas who has also written its story.
The movie’s theatrical release clashed with ‘Lal Salaam’ starring superstar Rajnikanth, which did good business at the box office.. However, ‘Lover’ was loved by the audience and even critics praised the plot and performance.
‘Lover’ Theme
‘Lover’ revolves around its two central characters, Arjun and Divya. Everything was going fine for the couple until their relationship became sour after six long years of togetherness. The situation prompts audiences to question if love is powerful enough to withstand the test of time.
Harish Kumar and Kanna Ravi have also acted in the movie.
Lover Movie 2024 OTT Release
According to reports, the movie will come on Disney+ Hotstar on March 8. Interestingly the day also coincides with Women’s Day and Maha Shivratri.
Manikandan, who is also an accomplished writer, opened up about his acting skills in an interview with the Hindustan Times. As a theatre artist, he always wanted to be an actor and so stepped into the Tamil film industry. However, he grudges that actors like him were not treated well at that time.
Manikandan struggled for a couple of years and then switched to writing. He still considers himself a writer but is happy to handle both careers successfully. He is now more focused on writing for movies that he wants to direct someday.
What Next?
Manikandan also talked about his upcoming projects. He wished to work in meaningful movies, which will be aesthetically made and also do good business in the box office. In his own words, “This was something we had discussed for years and now we want to try it. Can we make a commercially successful film without following the regular template in Tamil Cinema? That’s what I keep asking and want to do.”
The writer-cum-actor has plans to direct movies one day. He is even working on a script. However, he has yet to decide about the cast. After he finishes the final script, he will give it some thought.
