What is Odd about Disney Two Girls One Cup?
Have you taken a closer look at the ‘Two Girls, One Cup” poster? You will find both girls’ one hand resting on their waist whereas the other hand holding the cup. Resting or fused?
In September 2023, there were claims across the social media sites that Disney had released a poster for their next animated movie project titled, “Two Girls, One Cup.” The title possibly referred to the ignominious internet video “2 Girls, 1 Cup,” wherein two women appear to be defecating into a cup, eating it, vomiting and then eating the vomit, according to a report by the Daily Dot.
The two girls were holding a cup together while smiling. The poster has gone viral on popular social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Reddit and Instagram. On TikTok, one video displaying the poster got more than 2 million views. One person posted a comment on X (formerly Twitter), “Disney what are y’all doing cuz there’s no way this is real.” The post received over 748, 000 views.
Disney Two Cups Movie: Real or Fake?
There is nothing to disagree with the comment in the X post. The poster is, in no way, real. Some sources reached out to Disney for comments for fact-checking and will write about it once they get to hear back from them.
There were some clear signs that the poster was not real. The “Disney” logo appearing on the top of the image looked changed, especially the letters s, n, and e in the world looked altered. Had the poster been real, the word “Disney” would have appeared clear and fully readable.
The awkward version of the characters’ indistinct and misshapen hands is another tell-tale sign that the poster was not real. One character’s hands appear fused with the cup and her shorts.
Hands, which look distorted, indicate that it is an AI-generated image. We have used different tools to find out if the image has been generated by artificial intelligence. These tools are AI or Not, Fakeimagedetector.com and Illuminarty. AI or Not has given a verdict of human involvement in making the image whereas Illuminarity finds that AI has contributed to 16% of the image making. Fakeimagedetector.com confirms the image as AI-generated.
When writing the article, we have found no indication from Disney that they will release a live-action or animated movie titled “Two Girls, One Cup.” We have found only one upcoming Disney short titled “Once Upon a Studio”.
Some versions of the viral image on Facebook, X and Reddit have “Dark Asylum” at the bottom. These words can be traced back to a FB page for “Dark Asylum Radio”. We spotted a post from September 22, 2023 on the same page featuring the poster. It was one of the earliest posts on social media, which contained the poster.
We have checked the Dark Asylum Radio page and can confirm that the poster was not real. We are sure that it was generated by AI and that Disney had no role in it.
We have also fact-checked other claims regarding the so-called Disney movies, like what we did in case of the remake of a live-action movie “Ferngully: the Last Rainforest” to figure out if it would have a theatrical release on Christmas 2024.
Summary: “Two Girls, One Cup” – is it really a Disney poster? Or could it be an AI-generated image? We inspect to get at the truth.
